Let's talk AI - Hopes, Fears & Plans

I wanted to create a topic just generally around “AI topics”.

Depending on what camp you’re in, AI I can be a bright spot in the future or a total disaster. I’m personally a realist by nature. I see that it is mostly going to be a positive for those who are adaptable.

That said, it’s important to acknowledge the uncertainty many feel and it is obviously unknown the exact ways the industry will change.

How are you feeling personally? This is a safe place to vent all of what you’re feeling, good, bad, indifferent.

Are you making any specific plans on how to make yourself “AI-proof” or “AI-supercharged”?

I’d like to share my perspective on using AI. I utilize it at work, especially during my free time, whether for creating dashboards or implementing new ideas. However, I never input company data into AI since that’s a BIG no no. I find that AI helps reduce the hassle involved in some analytical calculations. I see it as an assistant that provides guidance.

Well said @Rudy_Castillo. Curious, which is your favorite tool? ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.

I see a lot of YouTube videos saying how AI will eliminate millions of jobs in the next few years, but then again some of these YouTube content creators can be Debbie Downers. I feel AI will take away some jobs, but mostly jobs that can easily be automated like Data Entry roles. I agree with those who say that those who are adaptable with AI will succeed. I use AI on a daily basis, that is if using ChatGPT counts as using AI.

@matrixski yeah, honestly if you’re doing work that can all be automated, I wouldn’t even be worried about AI taking my job… even basic Power Automate & scheduling tools could take your job in that case.

Being adaptable with AI absolutely is the key. It’s going to evolve the work for sure. Learning to deploy agents, utilizing AI analytics tools as they come about, developing soft skills, those are all the things that will be more important.

My go-to is ChatGPT. I’ll have to explore other tools you mentioned.

I haven’t used Claude much but I hear that it’s one of the best ones for any sort of code generation.

I have used Gemini and ChatGPT extensively, and both are pretty comparable for my use cases. Both have suggested code for various projects that I’ve worked on and besides some minor tweaks, generally have worked okay for that. Mostly having it grind out some basic Python structures for simple applications and then I’ll go back in and modify/customize/debug.
