Accounting related roles have many analytical and even data visualization skills involved. Although I am not an accountant, I have worked with people and know people in the accounting field who mention there are a lot of analytics involved.

If one has an accounting degree and wants to transition into data analytics, these jobs will give someone a huge edge:

Staff Accountant

Accounting Assistant

Auditing Clerk

Accounts Receivable/Payable Clerk

Payroll Clerk

Bookkeeper

Corporate Accountant

The entry to these jobs with a degree is promising and you don’t need years of experience for entry level roles. With accounting merging with data analytics in many ways, this could be a very good lateral approach.

For some roles like Payroll clerk and Bookkeeper, a degree is not necessary but it helps to have certifications and or experience. Depending on the organization, some Administrator roles can also be a good foundation as many will involve working with spreadsheets, data entry, data analysis, and cross-collaboration.
