Since the market is quite competitive for entry-level people like me, while I’m job hunting, I am thinking of starting some freelancing work in Analytics.
Maybe start with building simple Dashboards - which I feel are pretty low-hanging fruit and do not disrupt daily business activities for small businesses.
I would like to know the opinion of experienced people in this field, and what do they think about this -
How would the opportunities look like? What would be the areas where I could get some starter contracts?
How can I position myself, considering the lack of formal experience?
Do you have any specific domain/industry knowledge - finance, healthcare, supply chain, etc.? If so, I would use this to your advantage.
Fiverr, Proxify, and Upwork all have platforms for freelancers though they are all very competitive, similar to the job market. It’s still a good place to get experience and if you price yourself correctly you can make some money while gaining good resume experience.
I don’t have a ton of experience in freelancing past that but figured I would share what I know.
Speak to what you know and be transparent about where your gaps are - that’s my best advice. Highlight how you may approach learning new concepts and how you’ve approached learning concepts before. I often find that you gain a lot of respect when you admit what you don’t know but show a plan for how you intend to learn.
