Other roles that I’ve seen and led are called Data Intelligence or Decision Science. I think of these as more applied analytics embedded within a specific domain or business group. Analysts often do not have a business specialization but a foundation of skills that make them agile. Decision Scientists might be very narrow technically and very deep into an area of business, measurement, or things like pricing, people analytics, customer, loyalty, crm, market research, etc.
Thanks for clarifying what Decision Science is. Here, I assumed Decision Science and Data Science were mostly the same thing, I only have heard the called Decision Scientists in one company I worked for, and they basically did Data Science work.
